What We Do

Manual Therapy

Manual therapy is a physical treatment primarily used to treat various musculoskeletal pain and  disability; it includes kneading and manipulation of muscles, joint mobilization and joint

manipulation. This is a hands-on approach that can be very effective in treating pain, tightness, immobilization and inflammation that can create disabilities for our patients. All our therapists at Grapevine PT are skilled in manual therapy and use it daily for our patients.

Physical Therapy modalities

A modality is a type of electrical, thermal or mechanical energy that causes

physiological changes. It is used to relieve pain, improve circulation, decrease swelling,

reduce muscle spasm, and deliver medication in conjunction with other procedures.

Examples may include moist heat pack, ice, ultrasound, cold laser or dry needling.

The therapists at Grapevine PT will decide which modality might be best for your

condition based on your symptoms.

Gait training

Gait training can help strengthen your muscles and joints, improve posture and balance, lower your risk of falling, and increase your mobility. Gait training is important to help build your endurance and get your legs back and ready for repetitive motion as well as develop muscle memory. Elderly patients often are referred to Grapevine Physical Therapy to train them on exercise to help improve their balance and reduce their chance or occurrence of falling due to balance issues.

Home exercise programs

A home exercise program (HEP) is an individualized set of therapeutic exercises that a patient is taught by their physical therapist to be completed at home to complement and reinforce their program in the clinic. It is directed toward their individual issues assessed during the initial evaluation. The home exercise program will be advanced and modified as determined by the physical therapist.

Dry needling

Dry needling, or trigger point dry needling and intramuscular stimulation, is a treatment technique that involves the use of either solid filiform needles or hollow-core hypodermic needles for therapy of muscle pain, including pain related to myofascial pain syndrome. Dry needling is mainly used to treat myofascial trigger points, but it is also used to target connective tissue, neural ailments, and muscular ailments. The American Physical Therapy Association defines dry needling as a technique used to treat dysfunction of skeletal muscle and connective tissue, minimize pain, and improve or regulate structural or functional damage.

Balance Training

Balance training can be defined as a training aimed at improving postural control. Balance

training can be used in different age and patient groups to enhance balance ability. Examples of specific groups that benefit from balance training include rehabilitation of sports injuries and fall prevention.

Electrical Stimulation

At Grapevine PT we provide mutliple electrical stimuation options which include: Electrical muscle stimulation (EMS), Neuromuscular electrical stimulation (NMES), Functional electrical stimulation (FES), Transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation (TENS), Russian electrical stimulation all of which include applying  electricity to the body to increase or decrease activity in the nervous system. The different names come from applying the current in different ways, to different parts of the body or for different reasons.
